
Heart of My T ChaiWith a helping hand from his first wife as one of the founding investors, the Mighty Chai-Wallah's good intentions and acute tea sensibility saw a delicious recipe develop into a chai empire.We have our youngest daughter to thank for the creation of My T Chai. Mrs My T Chai had been drinking rooibos tea throughout her pregnancy, (caffeine is not good for growing babies), and then had to avoid it again while breast-feeding. By the time our baby was six months old, Mom was needing some variety. So Dad, who does a lot of his nurturing through what he produces in the kitchen, made endless pots of rooibos chai for Mom on the stove. He would peel ginger and grind up fresh spices in the rooibos to give it the warm nurturing qualities chai has. Milk made the baba snotty, so soya milk was used as a base. This recipe proved so popular, Dad decided to make things easier for himself and made an instant mix with the spices, soya milk and rooibos, so all Mom needed to do was add water. Visitors to our home raved about it and said it was so good we should sell it. So we did. And the Mighty Chai-Wallah, resident chai guru, was born. Read about the History of Chai |
